As I sit here reflecting upon the past few weeks (for later reference coronavirus) I am reminded that it's often hard for us to relate unless we've been there ourselves. I think most of us are very alert right now and responding well to the Governor's and the President's requests for social distancing. Some businesses remain open here in Oconee County, SC and in the Western Upstate of SC. We have very few cases of the virus here and no deaths so far. Real Estate and related businesses have been identified as necessary to the economy but we have made some changes to the way we do business.
Our offices are staffed but we are not having customers come into the office. We are conducting business through phone and computer/cell phone. I am offering to preview properties for you and do LIVE video calls so that you can see the property as I walk through. I can stop and go back and answer all your questions just as we normally do. Of course any data that I would normally provide for you (disclosures, plats, comparable properties for price analysis, etc) I will send over email if possible. We are receiving and disseminating paperwork that cannot be sent over email through our office door. We are using gloves to handle paperwork. When we identify a property that you think is the one, I can schedule an appointment for you to see the home in person (if seller and buyer are comfortable with this.) OR, we can make the offer contingent on you seeing the property when it is safe to do so.
Lenders, public records, and attorneys are handling business in similar ways. If we get to a closing date, the attorneys are coming to the parking lot. There will either be two tables set up at safe distances apart or buyers and sellers remain in their cars and the attorney is between them.
For sellers who do not want to be on the market right now but do plan to sell asap, I am working with you to get all the paperwork together and if possible, getting the professional photos done so that we can go on the market immediately when this crisis is over.
